Posting music

Ok you all, I need some help here. Being a radio DJ for 20 years, has made me really want to share a lot of music with you on this site. The thing is, I can't for the life of me figure out how to upload music to a post. Please help. I know how to paste a link, and post a video, but how do I upload a music file from my hard drive?

My Trip to the DMV

You know, I love a trip to the DMV. The last time I went there, I received a ticket for exiting through the entrance. You heard me. When I went there on Wednesday to get new license plates, because I received a $100 ticket for having no front plate, I was told the front plate was actually STUCK to the back plate. When I bought the car last April, I asked the owner where the front plate was. His response was that it must have been stolen. WTF? I had already recieved 2, count them 2, tickets for not having a front plate. I know, I know, "dude, WTF? Go get the damn plate already." I'm a glutten for punishment.

So I finally find the time and incination to head down there. I will say they've got that place organized pretty well these days. The waiting isn't that long, they have the TV monitor to tell you when your number is up, and the people watching is amazing. We are all equals in the DMV. I imagine a similar feeling after the '06 quake and fire in SF. All the rich and poor standing in the bread lines together; shaking hands and working for the common good. Yeah, it's something like that.

Anyway, the kind lady at the check in, tells me to go remove my exisxting plate, and bring it back to her. I do so. Upon returning, she takes a look at the plate in my hand, tells me to look at the edge, and low and behold, I have two plates stuck together! Damn! $200 f&^%ing dollars later I have two plates stuck together. I'm as pleased as one can imagine, knowing that I don't have to pay for new plates. At the same time, how much can a set of new plates be? $25? $50? Not $200!!!

I take the plates out and put them both on the car. I then show a DMV employee my most recent, and third ticket for no license plate, which I "accidentally" tore in half when I received it. He signed off on it. I better mail it in, right?

As for the ticket for exiting through the entrance; this happened at the Daly City DMV. They ticketed me, but I aruged SUCCESSFULLY in court, that there is a broken double-yellow line in the street, in front of the driveway. Although there is a sign that states "Entrance Only", the broken double-yellow line implies that one can exit, and turn left onto the street. I questioned the officer for 15 minutes. I had pictures. The judge loved it. I beat that cop. I beat that cop bad! Ha!

I hadn't received a moving violation in 17 years, before I got a ticket for speeding on Dolores in SF, in the summer of 2006. I beat that one too. Dang, I'm pretty good about getting out of tickets. I'm just too lazy to go get a license plate I never needed. $200!!!!!!!!!

New outlet for fun

Since I've been off the air for over a month, I've found a few things to take up my free time. I'm spending way too much time on Facebook. I don't know why really. I also have no idea why the hell anyone would still be on MySpace?!?! What the hell does that site offer anyway? I'm sure Rupert Murdock is wondering the same thing.

Anyway, I spent last Friday through Monday up in Point Arena, celebrating their centennial, with 501 of my newest friends. Great town. It's on highway 1, in Mendecino county.

I also shot a ton of pics of the Extra Action Marching Band, who played ceaselessly while they were there. I appreciate the fact that they played to the families during the day, in their PG13ness, and then at night they offered a more "blue" set for us inebriated folks. Too much fun. Eventually I'll find my way back to the radio. I'm actually displeased that I haven't been on lately. There is so much great new music out there. I picked up the new Melvins, Free Kitten, Mudhoney, Isobel Campbell/Mark Lanegan CDs, and the There Will Be Blood soundtrack within the last few weeks. There is so much great music out there.

I'm also enjoying this great Athens, GA band, Harvey Milk. I wonder if folks in Georgia know who Harvey Milk was? Hmm...

I'm not in the mood to do a podcast though. I just don't find it spontaneous enough. I don't like the idea of hitting the delete button if I don't care for what I just said or played. I don't play like that.

I Wish I Had Thought Of That

Then again, when I was a teenager, I lived with my dad, who was most often at work. Therefore, I had no need to time my dressing speed.

A Season in Hell is on Sabatical

I'm taking a little time off from the radio thing right now. The summer is just about here, and I want to get a little travel in, before the fall semester begins. Many of you know that along with doing radio, I'm also a high school social studies teacher in San Francisco.

Don't be saddened by my departure from Pirate Cat Radio. I shall return. This time in the form of ice molecules in a drink of my choice. And of course, Pirate Cat Radio will continue on as well. You can always tune in online here, or on the FM in SF & LA at 87.9, or in Berlin at 104.8FM.

Thanks for your great support over the last year. My passion is radio, and turning my listeners on to something they have never heard before, or never heard in the style I bring it to them in. Did that make any sense? Never mind.

What saddens me the most, is after I stepped away from my show the new Free Kitten and the new Mudhoney were released. Check them out. I'm loving them both.
