Once again I have outdone myself. Even after almost 30 years I still have the ability to put a set together that continues to prove that commercial radio has, does, and always will suck.

The legendary record label and recording studio, Fantasy Records, is closing. I pepper in a few artifacts in tribute, including some CCR, Lenny Bruce, Rancid, and Primus. I took a few requests, one of which is a brilliant 20 minute long devotional Sufi piece, and some Flo and Eddie in the form of a live Zappa/Mother's from 1970.

But that's not all! You also get the shortest, yet most inspiring version of the (almost) entire Tommy LP, an electronic-voiced Eric Clapton side project, and two horny drunk women pissed off at their even more drunk boyfriend. Oh yes, and a really pissed off preacher.

What will I do next Monday to top this one? Tune in Monday 8-10PM to find out.

Monday, August 20th, my brother from another mother, Eric McFadden will be in the studio to co-host our 3rd (non-consecutive) Steel Bridge Special. This is always a hoot.

Enjoy.

Tonight I'm training a new Radio Valencia DJ: Andre Champaign. Andre took over the first 30 minutes of my show, and it was a dub-lovers delight! Two sweet sets that'll get your toes a-tappin'. and your body swaying.

Andre also inspired my sets. Since my recent move I've been finding items in my library I had forgotten all about. I was told in my radio youth to never draw attention to a mistake; the listeners won't notice anyway. I took that to heart, but added never draw attention to a mistake UNLESS you can make it an artform! You can hear what I mean in my final mic break of the evening. HA!

I was hoping to do a 7" special soon called "The Return of the Magnificent 7", but in my recent move I lost a box of items, including ALL of my 7"s. I cannot begin to tell you how sore I am about this loss. I also lost a few DVDs and important books. Ugh. I hate the idea of having to rebuild my collection. But that's how it goes. As bad as I fee about this, I cannot define my identity by what I own. In the end, I still love music; it's my drug of choice. You can count on me to continue to curate two hours of aural bliss every Monday night.

I do still have a John Zorn special that I'm planning for this Fall. I'm still not certain how many hours and how many parts it will be. There is so much good music to choose from this grand composer/musician. So we have that to look forward to, which is good.

Check out the playlist below and click the stream or download link above to listen.

Enjoy.

From last Monday, because you know you were waiting with baited breath...

Just a brief look at the playlist below and you'll see why I consider radio the art of the segue. So many genres packed into this two hour show. And a tasty 25 minute Grateful Dead treat, celebrating a brilliant show from 39 years ago! New music from Charles Moothart, the Melvins, Owl, and something you've never heard before from Boris. There's local music and music that's new to you. Something for the entire family. I wouldn't play Avenue D for the kids though.

Ooh, I even too a request! I so rarely do that. I guess I was just in the mood. I usually have so much music with me that I want to share, that I don't make time for your requests. What if I do an all-request show? Would you like that? May I do that just for little ol' you?

After one week off, and spending time on the humidity East Coast, I am back in the saddle for two hours of heatseeking musical entertainment for your ear holes.

In the first hour I interviewed Dan Menapace, bassist for local prog-metal group Illogistical Resource Department. They have their second release out, "Transmission Cinema". Expect great thing from this veteran three-piece.

The second hour is chock full of craziness. Some recent releases, and some from my vast and deep library. Take a look at the playlist below.

Tonight I have Robin Coomer of Loop!Station and Shake Well on my show. She's funny, artistic, creative, and has a great face for radio. Tune in 8-10 on Radio Valencia.

Enjoy.

A Season in Hell #161: Free Love Messes Up My Life

I know you want to stream this sexiness into your chakras.
You can download this sexy episode, and listen to it in the privacy of your own place space.
You can get down with all of my shows by going here, or just scroll down.

This past Monday night on the show I was thrilled to have SF's Queen of the Kinky scene, the one and only Polly Whittaker!!! She has been writing her memoir, "Polly: Sex Culture Revolutionary", and even has a Kickstarter to help her self-publish. She is a radio interviewers dream come true. What a story teller; and the best part: her sexy stories are all true!

Polly takes us through her journey growing up in London, the passing of her father; being raised by a very sexually-aware, sex therapist mother; her days as a latex saleswoman and model; and her last minute escape to San Francisco, where she very quickly found her "people", and created Kinky Salon, the most exciting and welcoming poly club space in San Francisco!

Take a listen to the show, and please consider donating to Polly's Kickstarter campaign, which ends a week from Friday, February 21st.

Enjoy, and be sure to tune in every Monday night. It's interviews and music, music, MUSIC!

Next Monday night, February 17th, Shareef Ali will be in to talk up his new record and upcoming show.
