Hell's Kitchen Radio #287: Let's Start Again

Stream a new beginning, HERE!

Listen into all my shows here, or just scroll down

For the new year I thought I would take a time out from new music and delve deep into my music library. I have to admit this was one of my favorite shows to host. Certainly my best of the year. HA! Every week my audience appears to grow. Thanks so much for the support, and please keep tuning in every Monday 8-10PM. Be sure to tell music lovers everywhere!

This year I want to focus on interviewing more bands, so if you're in a band or know someone who is, please contact me and let's make this thing happen. I also want to host a special on the history of West African Funk. There's so much beyond Fela that I really want to share with you. I also plan on bringing back an old favorite which dropped by the wayside: Bootleg Blast! This is where I share my latest live show that I've discovered. This will happen in the second hour so stick around. There's a tasty live treat in this broadcast, actually. Later in the year I'm hoping to also resurrect "Rock Fight", where I host a 4+ hour live bootleg battle. My buddy, and legendary sound engineer John Karr will try to best me. Let's see how far he gets. Look for this show sometime this summer.

Finally, it's time once again for my annual "Run for the Lilies" contest, where you dear listener send me the names of 10 famous people you believe will meet their demise by the end of this calendar year. The only rule: you may not participate in how they meet their maker. Please email your list of 10 names by Sunday, January 29 to mrjohnhell@gmail.com

I'll announce the winner of the "Run for the Lilies 2016" on Monday, January 30th. And what a year that was! I'm expecting our winner to possibly have a record number of names on that list. Oy.

Take a look at the playlist below and then click on the links above to stream or download the podcast.

Let's have an excellent 2017. When everything appears to be falling apart go back to the music and hold your loved ones closer than ever before.

Enjoy.

A Season in Hell #161: Free Love Messes Up My Life

I know you want to stream this sexiness into your chakras.
You can download this sexy episode, and listen to it in the privacy of your own place space.
You can get down with all of my shows by going here, or just scroll down.

This past Monday night on the show I was thrilled to have SF's Queen of the Kinky scene, the one and only Polly Whittaker!!! She has been writing her memoir, "Polly: Sex Culture Revolutionary", and even has a Kickstarter to help her self-publish. She is a radio interviewers dream come true. What a story teller; and the best part: her sexy stories are all true!

Polly takes us through her journey growing up in London, the passing of her father; being raised by a very sexually-aware, sex therapist mother; her days as a latex saleswoman and model; and her last minute escape to San Francisco, where she very quickly found her "people", and created Kinky Salon, the most exciting and welcoming poly club space in San Francisco!

Take a listen to the show, and please consider donating to Polly's Kickstarter campaign, which ends a week from Friday, February 21st.

Enjoy, and be sure to tune in every Monday night. It's interviews and music, music, MUSIC!

Next Monday night, February 17th, Shareef Ali will be in to talk up his new record and upcoming show.

A Season in Hell #149: Take A Chance On Me

Excellent show through and through. Each set was a winner. I think you'll really enjoy this one. Get ready to really dance in the second hour.

I think it's shows like this one that really show my range as a DJ. You've got your indie, your punk, funk, international, rap. It's got pretty much everything that your commercial radio dreck would never dare approach.

I wish more people would lobby commercial radio stations and request music like you hear on this show. I do. Make that happen. Let me know how they respond. I can probably guess, but let's take a shot at it anyway.

Enjoy and annoy.
