DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS SHOW!!! It's my first week back in the studio in about a month and I am really rusty. Too many DJ errors to count. Dang! The music kicks ass, and I am pretty funny to listen to while screwing everything up, royally, but other than that this is without a doubt a throw away program. Seriously. At the very least you should speed through my mic breaks. No one should have to sit through such blather. Ugh.

That being said, just take a look at that set list below! Damn! What a fine and diverse selection.

I'm back in the studio tonight, as far as I know at this hour. I do have kids, so anything can get in the way of a good time. Er, I mean, I love having a good time with my kids. They're a blast (insert thumb up sign here).

New music from Goggs, Oh Sees, Tropical Fuck Storm, Sleep, and Ty Segall & White Fence.

Enjoy.

Hell's Kitchen Radio #285: Best of 2016

What a mess this year was in so many ways, but not in music! There's always too much good music for me to share during this show. I should really host a four hour show to feature all of my faves, but then I would be stepping on other Radio Valencia shows, who also have such choice tunes to throw your way.

My Best of 2016 is full of soul, garage, punk, metal, Nick Cave and Bowie. I have a few re-issues thrown in there for good measure, and a track or two you haven't hear on my show before, but the artists you certainly have. Please tune into Radio Valencia throughout the next few weeks as our many show hosts will be sharing their Best of shows with you.

Next Monday night will see the return of Little Lauson Hell. She's 12 now, and has decided that her taste in music is way better than mine. She may be right. You decide.

Enjoy.

OK, I've got to be honest with you. After all, you've been here with me, week in, week out for all these long years. How could I ever lie to you? Actually, that's not very difficult seeing how I don't ever actually look you in the eyes, and they say you can really tell if someone is lying to you by looking them straight in their eyes. My older sister used to tell me that my pupils were dilating if I was lying to her. I think that was a lie, come to think of it. Huh.

Anyway, this show was from October 10, 2016 and I never took the time to do a write up and post it. how very rude of me. You take the time to listen to my show, the least I could do is take some time and post the archived podcast of it so you can download or stream it over and over again. I know that you are just dying to have this on your hard drive so you can listen to my voice and choice of music years after the apocalypse. And why not!? Good for you!

So it may already be April 2017, but damnit this show is just too good NOT to share! I can't recall what I spoke about on this night, but looking at the playlist below it looks pretty tasty.

By the way, I have plenty of other shows I have yet to post. I really do need to do something about this lazy streak I have in me.

Enjoy.

Hell's Kitchen Radio #255: Are You Still Talking?

It's LEAP DAY!!! I just thought I'd shout that out. Happy 7th birthday to my friend Drea, and 13th to my friend Paul. You're both so cute, but you look really old for your age.

I recently added the Drumpf extension to my Chrome. that means even if I type Trump into this blog, when I see it on my computer it'll say Drumpf. HA! Love it. I also added the Kardashian blocker, which kindly also blocks all-things Kanye, Kimye, and Jenner, and whatever other terms I add to it. I don't need the heartburn, knowhatimean? I can even add "John Hell" to it, and it'll block me! Wait, I don't mean to give any of you some wild idea. You need me. You need me to educate you on quality radio programming. You need me to school you on the newest of the new sounds going down in the uptown. I offer for your consideration the following playlist below.

Check out the first hour! So much classic rap and hip hop. I don't play nearly enough of this. I also feature legendary local hiphopsters: Kalri$$ian!!! They are blazing hot, and I cannot wait to get them into my bed, er...I mean, back in the studio. Yes. That is what I meant to say. Studio. Ahem. Check out their Twitter stream too. It's often NSFW, so you've been warned.

There's some good ol' fashion punk rock, Americana, psycho-swing, psychedelia, doom metal, spaghetti-western soundtrack music, new garage rock, and classic Ray Charles just because I can.

Tune in for the music, stay for the witty banter. I can't recall everything I said, but I'm fairly certain there's a quality rant in the somewhere.

Do you tune in for just the music? I want to know. Leave a comment about why you listen, what you enjoy, and what you would like more of (and yes: less of). I'm thinking of creating a simple survey for you all to take. Thanks for your input. I want to make this a show you look forward to each and every Monday night. Or perhaps you can just make a John Hell Blocker and then you won't have to worry about seeing anymore of this drivel.

Enjoy.
