No guests. No training. Just you and me and a whole hell of a lotta music. Musically speaking this may be my best show of the year so far. There are some inspired sets I think you're gonna love. And these are some of my longest sets too!

In my early radio days at KFJC we had to follow the clock and break at :10, :20, :40, and :50, as well as play a legal ID at top of the hour. Each break we had business to attend to: announcing other shows , public service announcements, ticket giveaways, and other bits and bobs. This gave us a 20 minute sweep at the bottom of the hour, and one at the top (except for that pesky legal ID).

I've kept to that clock pretty much throughout the years. I like the idea of stopping often enough for you to know who I played, while also having a few longer sets where I can stretch out some. I often get a bit more dissonant during these sweeps.

I wasn't strict with the clock tonight.

I also went shopping at Stranded Records on Sunday. New music from Goat, Melvins (best album since the Big Business days IMHO), and Meatbodies. Lots of music to drop your panties to. A brief tribute to Steve Albini (more to come on that loss). And so much more. Take a look at the playlist below. Click the link above to listen in.

Enjoy and please share.

Oh wow that was really fun. There are those nights when everything just clicks. This was one of those nights. The tunes, the transitions, the mic breaks, and almost 100% of the equipment worked better than expected. That's saying something.

I've been doing this a long time, and others prepare their sets down to the minute, choosing just the right tracks days before their show, and it really shows. I've never been that way. Never. I bring a heap load of music with me, mostly vinyl, but I do have a small CD case I'll reload every so often, and then there's my external HD, loaded with my latest digital acquisitions. BTW, when I buy a new record, I love getting both the vinyl and the digital download. What a world we live in!

Lots of new music tonight, featuring Ty Segall, Kikagaku Moyo, The Bobby Lees, Dogbowl (thanks Jim!), Willie Nelson, Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder, and Boris. There's some Jazz, Punk, Blues, "Gospel", Psychedelic, Proto-Punk, British Prog, and much more.

Let's see your local commercial radio station even come close to what you get on Radio Valencia.

Enjoy and please share.

What a pleasure it is to have talented artists in the studio. Monday night I was lucky to have my old buddy Joe Mangrum in town doing some work on a public art piece of his that the city asked him to come care for. It was either that or the city was going to tear it out and throw it away. Stay classy, San Francisco.

Joe is what we can a hyphenated artist. He's done it all. Since moving to New York a bit over a decade ago, he has been best known as the sand mandala artist of Washington Square Park. Since COVID he's been working on a couple of books on his history as an artist. These will be self published, so please look for them coming in 2022. These will make an excellent addition to any art book collection. He's also working on turning his work in NFTs, something that I am a true novice in. Joe believes NFTs are the future. Might want to jump on this while it's still young.

Musically, tonight has a lot to offer: "new" Nick Cave, King Gizzard, and Amyl. There's punk, some funk, and lots of junk. Take a look at the playlist below and jump right in.

Radio Valencia is co-presenting Flipper, December 30th and 31st at Bottom of the Hill. This is going to be

two incredible shows. Yours truly is MCing December 30th, featuring comedian Neil Hamburger, and Mike Watt and the Missingmen. New Years Eve has Neil Hamburger and SF punk luminaries VKTMS!!! Go to the Bottom of the Hill website for tickets and more information. Radio Valencia will be in house with lots of freshly printed t-shirts just for you!

Happy Thankstaking to you and yours. Let's not forget who's non-seceded land we are all living on. And give thanks to all the farm laborers who work it took to get this food to our tables.

Next Monday, November 29th is my eleventh annual Annual Annual. Two hours featuring one year in music. What year will I choose? Tune in and find out!

Enjoy and please share.
