What a treat to host local guitarist, singer, songwriter, and all around good guy, Ralph Spight on Monday night. Ralph is known mostly through his years leading Bay Area Hardcore Punk band Victims Family, along with bassist Larry Boothroyd. Tonight he was in talking up his side project, which could honestly be a solid lead project for any other respectable artist, The Freak Accident, who are playing at Bottom of the Hill Saturday night, along with Smokers and The Young Barons.

Ralph has played with or toured with all of the legendary punk bands throughout the years, and he quite a few fine stories to share during the show. He is also the lead guitarist for Jello Biafra's Guantanamo School of Medicine

We talk about the upcoming show, touring, recording, playing guitar, layering instruments, and surviving in today's musical soup.

Ralph's songwriting is second to none and I know you're going to dig this.

Come on down to the Bottom of the Hill this Saturday, November 17th for this all ages show. Doors at 7:30, show at 8:30. Bring the kids!

I'm gearing up for my 12th annual Annual Annual, where I choose one year to focus two hours on. I've got my ears on three years right now, so you'll have to tune in Monday, November 28th, 8-10PM PST to check it out.

Enjoy and please share.

What an honor it was to host the drummer of one of the most influential bands in a generation (or three), Stephen DePace of Flipper! I've interviewed Ted Falcone and Rachel Thoele back in 2019, in preparation for Flipper's 40th anniversary, and this time around Stephen came in to talk up the Radio Valencia co-presents at Bottom of the Hill on December 30th and New Year's Eve!

What started as an interview, quickly became a Flipper retrospective, as Stephen brought all of their releases with him (of which I had all of them of course), and told some brilliant stories about each track.

Really, this is a must listen show for all of you aging punk rockers, and Flipper fans. Even you youngsters should check this out to add to your punk street cred. Ha!

Join Radio Valencia Thursday, December 30th, and Friday, New Year's Eve for Flipper, comedian Neil Hamburger, Mike Watt and the Missingmen (12/30 only), and Electric Machine Gun Tits (NYE only).

I'm your MC on 12/30!

Radio Valencia will have a merch table with brand new RV t-shirts for sale, $15-$20 sliding scale donation.

Bottom of the Hill has a strict COVID protocol. You must show your vaccination card upon entry, and anyone seen with their mask off (other than for drink or food), will be told to leave. No exceptions!

Go to Bottom of the Hill for tickets and info. We can't wait to ring in the new year with Flipper and YOU!

Enjoy.

Radio Valencia Co-Presents Flipper December 30 & 31 at Bottom of the Hill

Radio Valencia is excited to be co-presenting the December 30 and 31 Flipper show, featuring David Yow at Bottom of the Hill. This is certain to sell out, so head on over to the Bottom of the Hill site to grab your tickets now. Ring in the new year with Bay Area noise-rock, post-punk, experimental rockers Flipper!

This is supposedly David Yow's final shows with Flipper, so you do not want to miss this. Honestly, unless
there's a Scratch Acid or Jesus Lizard reunion planned, why would he ever leave such a great band?

I'm going to be interviewing the band leading up to the shows, so tune into my Monday night show: Hell's Kitchen Radio on Radio Valencia to check it out. I may even have tickets to give away!?!?!?!

Both nights have comedian and man about town, Neil Hamburger opening. mike watt + missingmen are in support on December 30th, with Radio Valencia's John Hell as your MC. Legendary San Francisco punk band VKTMS are in support for December 31st.

Radio Valencia will be in the house with a merch table so you can ring in the new year with a brand spankin' new Radio Valencia t-shirt. Come grab one for your and your loved ones.

Check out my interview with Flipper guitarist Ted Falconi and bassist Rachel Thoele from July 2019, leading up to Flipper's 40th anniversary show at Great American Music Hall

Do not delay on getting tickets to this show, they will go fast!
